Hanita Ilan (b.1978), is an Israeli artist based in Jerusalem, working in The Artist’s Studio, Jerusalem. She holds a BFA (2010) and an MFA (2014) from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, and has received several excellency grants during her studies. She works mainly in painting, while stretching and challenging the limits of the medium. In her paintings, abstraction, fragmentation, subtraction and deletion of the image bring forth a constant tension between the figurative and the abstract.
Ilan has received The Independent Creators Fund by the Ministry of Culture and Sport (2019), The Tel Aviv Special Projects Fund, along with with the Rabinowitz Fund (2017), and the Ministry Of Culture and Sport grant for Artist-Teacher (2012-2015). Her works can be found in collections both in Israel and abroad, including the Frasers Property Collection, Edinburgh Scotland, Bank Leumi’s collection, Serge Tirosh’s collection and more. She has also been a teaching assistant and guest lecturer at Bezalel Academy, and currently teaches painting in the Department of Art at Oman College, Jerusalem.
