Yonatan Ron (b. 1988) is a painter and printmaker based in Tel Aviv. He holds a BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and currently completes his MFA from Bezalel as well. In his work, Ron uses traditional mediums such as painting and print, in order to explore the relations between the traditional and the modern, the old and the new. He draws inspiration from Baroque paintings and etchings, popular media, film and animation, seeking to examine the flatness which characterizes modern imagery in traditional methods.
Ron received the Young Artists Scholarship from the Jerusalem Print Workshop (2019), The Mitchell Presser Prize for Excellency in Painting (2012), and was the first Prize Winner of the Herman Struck Prize for Excellency in printmaking (2011).
