Elham Rokni | אלהם רוקני

Elham Rokni (b. 1980), lives and works in Tel-Aviv. Born in Iran just after the Islamic Revolution, Rokni grew up in Tehran and immigrated to Israel at the age of 9. In her drawings and video installations she repeatedly constructs and deconstructs patterns, colors and shapes which relate to her childhood memories and family album from Tehran.

Rokni has both a BFA (2007) and an MFA (2010) from Bezalel Academy, and is a professor at Bezalel’s Art Department since 2013. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions and film festivals worldwide, and has received awards such as The Israel’s Minister Of Culture award and grant (2019/2018), best award for experimental and video art, Jerusalem Film Festival (2018), The Tel Aviv Museum of Art Prize (2013), and more.
