Shirel Safra (b. 1983) is an Israeli artist, living and working in Tel Aviv. He is a graduate of the Media Department at the Musrara School of Art, and of the Fine Arts Masters program at Bezalel Academy of Design and Art. His work employs several media, such as painting, drawing, printing and performance, in order to create a bridge between his religious past and his secular present.
Shirel is the winner of the Mayor of Jerusalem Award for Excellence for his final exhibition at Musrara, and had also won third place in Calcalist Magazine’s 2013 promising artist competition. He has exhibited multiple times in solo and group exhibitions in various galleries and museums in Israel. Shirel is an active member of the Hanina Cooperative Gallery in Tel Aviv and his works can be found in private collections, as well as at the Janco Dada Museum in En Hod, Israel.
