Aviv Keller is an Israeli artist, currently living and working in Jaffa. He is a graduate of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and has also studied at the Hatahana Studio School for painting and drawing.
Keller uses embroidery as a personal language he developed, resulting from his search for new means of expression. He regards his embroidered works as paintings, and creates them by using the knowledge and the tools he has acquired as a realistic painter. His technique corresponds with an ancient tradition, but his free-spirited stitches don’t comply with the old rules of embroidery. Each work takes months to complete.
